inDrive expands safety toolkit with Trip Audio Recording feature
inDrive, the global mobility and delivery platform, has announced the official rollout of its new in-app “Trip Audio Recording” feature across Pakistan. This feature allows the passenger and the driver to manually activate recording from the app’s Safety Center during a ride.
By giving both parties the ability to document their journey environment, it introduces a reliable and transparent framework that supports inDrive’s safety teams in evaluating situations fairly and accurately based on verified audio data.
Awais Saeed, Country Manager for inDrive Pakistan commented, “For us, safety is about building an environment of trust and mutual respect during everyday trips. By putting the Trip Audio Recording tool directly into the hands of our passengers and drivers, we are removing the guesswork from dispute resolution. Sometimes, simply knowing that an objective, secure record can be created makes every single journey feel a little safer for everyone in the car.”
User privacy is just as important as physical safety, inDrive has built the feature with strict data safeguards. The tool operates under a transparency protocol that allows it to only record when explicitly turned on by a user. This means the app cannot record covertly or run audio capture in the background. Additionally, all recorded audio files are fully encrypted immediately upon generation. No one can play it back, download, or share the audio, including the passenger, the driver and inDrive doesn’t give it to third parties.
The encryption key is securely held exclusively by inDrive’s safety team. The files are only unencrypted and accessed in the event of an official complaint investigation, and information is shared with law enforcement authorities only when legally required. Available immediately within the inDrive app, users can access the tool by simply opening the Safety Center, tapping the audio recording icon, and continuing their journey with added peace of mind.
