Pakistan’s Record IT Earnings Put Spotlight on Stablecoin as Payoneer Research Shows Global Platforms Moving Beyond Pilots

Pakistan

As Pakistani IT and services export business post their highest-ever monthly earnings, new research from Payoneer, the global financial technology company powering business growth across borders, shows that the international marketplaces and platforms paying them are turning stablecoin into core financial infrastructure.

Unveiled at Money20/20 in Las Vegas, Payoneer’s report, Stablecoin Steps Up, surveyed 265 senior payments, treasury and finance leaders at US-based marketplaces, platforms and enterprises with annual revenue of $100 million or more. It finds stablecoin well past experimentation: 69% are already live with it in real operations, 41% at meaningful scale. Faster settlement leads the proven benefits at 50%, with better market and currency access (41%) and a better recipient experience (40%) close behind.

Ambitions now reach beyond moving money, as a third already offer stablecoin capabilities to their own customers, half plan to within three years, and 82% expect it to form part of their financial infrastructure over the same period.
Adoption, the report notes, often begins with a recipient who wants to hold a dollar-denominated balance, a need that resonates with Pakistan’s estimated three million freelancers. It is equally candid about the hurdles, eminent among them the “last mile” of turning digital dollars into spendable local currency, alongside regulation, reconciliation and system integration.

The findings arrive as Pakistan builds a framework of its own. The Virtual Assets Act 2026 created the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) to license and supervise the sector, and the regulator estimates that trimming transfer costs by one percentage point on roughly $40 billion in annual remittances could save the country about $400 million a year.

“Our research shows how marketplaces and enterprises are putting stablecoin to work to improve cross-border payments, manage treasury operations and build new financial experiences for their customers,” said Rowland Berry, Vice President, Stablecoin, Payoneer. “As businesses expand beyond pilots, we believe their success is likely to depend on integrating stablecoin into existing systems, meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring recipients can access and use the money they receive.”

Pakistani freelancers earned a record $197 million in September 2026, according to State Bank of Pakistan data, lifting first-quarter earnings to about $550 million, up 46% year-on-year.
